Fairfield University assistant professor Joanna Chang will lead a musical journey through history at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on April 27.

The performance, “Musical Postcards: A Transatlantic Journey from Beethoven to Bernstein,” is part of the university’s contribution to America250, a nationwide initiative commemorating the building of America. The 7:30 p.m. recital will feature a chronological program that bridges the gap between traditional European influences and the development of a distinct American classical style.

Chang, an expert in music history and theory, brings a background in musicology and piano performance to the stage. Her previous research has explored the influence of Johannes Brahms as well as the interpretation of symphonic works in Hollywood and East Asian cinema.

The concert is open to the community, with tickets available at fairfield.edu/quickcenter.
